Bath Elementary Holds Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony

On Thursday evening, June 10, 2010, several hundred guests attended Bath Elementary School's Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony. Mrs. Jo Ann Krantz played the processional and recessional music and directed the Junior High Chorus, singing "I Hope You Dance." Dr. Don Phipps, Superintendent of Beaufort County Schools, was the  guest speaker. Mrs. Pam Hodges,  Principal, introduced Dr. Phipps and presented several student awards. The adwards were: Perfect Attendance - Elizabeth Boyd. The award to honor former Bath student, Joel Taylor, who died in Iraq, was presented to Miranda Taylor and Sam Antrican. The Student Athlete Award for the Most Athletic  went to Madison Gruber and Pete Bright. Colonial Book Club Citizenship Award - Makayla Cutler and Steven Kelly. Leadership Award - Amanda Godley and Garrett Boyd. Principal's Award - Ashley Carter and Seth Barrow. Music Award honoring the memory of Gail Fulp - Brandi Jordan. The North Carolina History Award honoring the memory of John Oden and given by the Beaufort County Genealogical Association - Matthew Wescott. Best All Around - This award is voted on by the 8th grade students. It went to Karlee Squires and Matthew Wescott. A new award this year was the Earl Respess Award to honor the memory of Mr. Respess. This award was presented to Hope Jarvis and Corbin Minor. Mrs. Hodges asked the Junior Beta Club members to rise and receive applause for their accomplishments. They are: Elizabeth Boyd, Steven "Pete" Bright, Tanner Brooks, Nicholas Cordon, Alexandra Cutler, Haley Cutler, Makayla Cutler, Cheyenne Franks,  Amanda Godley, Nicholas Godley, Madison Gruber, Tiana Harris, Kayla Luke, Karlee Squires, Miranda Taylor, Matthew Wescott, Cole Austin Woolard, Grayce Woolard. Mrs Hodges then presented the academic awards for the following: Third Highest Average - Steven Kelly. Salutatorian - Madison Gruber. Co - Valedictorians - Karlee Squires and Matthew Wescott. The Marshals were: Savannah Bunn, Seth Jones, Brianna Swain, Rubi Perez, Megan Baldwin, Elaine Waters, Aeryalle Williams, Johnna Mullis,  Dusty Repess, Kaitlyn Tetterton, Laura LeCompte, and Jamie Woolard. Ms. Chris Smith and Ms. Tracie Bowen-Hubers awarded the Certificates of Promotion. Bath's Assistant  Principal, Mr. Brian Swain, gave the closing remarks.
