On May 27 after school, members of the Southside High School FBLA chapter celebrated the end of school with a cookout and field day. Members enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers with all the fixings. After socializing and enjoying the food, members were challenged to enter the field day activities.
Jessica Bennett and Kayla Peed teamed up for the three-legged race and took the top spot. Khadidra Smith proved that she could hula-hoop for the longest time, while Kayla Peed showed how low she could go with the limbo dance. Mallory Cox maintained her cool and won the egg-run contest, and Brittany Simmons showed that she could out spit everyone in the watermelon seed-spitting contest. Winners received Zanybandz, in addition to bragging rights.
Since most FBLA events are academic-related competitions or community service work, members enjoyed relaxing and socializing with each other before exams began. Fifteen members, three guests, and FBLA advisors Bill Lake and Kathy Clark attended the event.
