During the NAACP’s 29^th annual banquet, three Beaufort County high school students were recognized as community youth who exhibit leadership skills. 

Lonniesha Williams, a graduating senior at Southside High School, was recently named the People’s Choice winner for the Miss Summer Festival 2010 pageant, and Marcrissa Carswell, a rising senior at Southside, is the reigning Miss Beaufort County. Amiar Johnson, a graduating senior at Washing High School, is the president of the senior class and plans to attend N.C. A & T State University to major in business and marketing.
